Giving Marketplace vendor spotlight: .africa
Established in 2019, TASWIRA stands for Transformative Action for Sustainable Women's Initiatives and Resources in Africa. They are an African art and design organization with the mission to empower women’s participation in the global economy and to help close the opportunity gaps that exist internationally.
TASWIRA’s African streetwear, hand-woven and natural products are produced by the Bamburi Women's Empowerment Center located within the small village of Bamburi in Mombasa, Kenya. All of their goods are created with the goals of embracing traditional African practices and generating additional income for children’s school tuition and fees.

✨Giving Marketplace vendor spotlight✨
is a nonprofit social enterprise dedicated to connecting weavers in the Andean Mountains with global markets. They collaborate with women artisans to support their efforts towards educational and financial independence.
Awamaki will be one of nearly 30 vendors offering unique holiday gifts at this year's Giving Marketplace, set for Dec. 2 and 3 at the Discovery Center.

✂️Get crafty: Join staff from on Friday, Dec. 2, to make a colorful card to give during the holiday season. Learn how they use the arts as a tool for mental and emotional health.
💍DIY jewelry gifts: Learn how to make a beautiful, wearable gift for someone you love with on Saturday, Dec. 3. All materials provided. Janet is a local artist who upcycles used bicycle parts and inner tubes into wearable art.
🎺Live music: We’ll be bopping along to the festive sounds of Folks Project on Friday, Dec. 2, and the Mountlake Terrace High School Jazz Band on Saturday, Dec. 3.

🎶Giving Marketplace isn't just about shopping. You'll also find family-friendly holiday activities, live music and more.
On Friday, Dec. 2, renowned Seattle jazz band Folks Project will help us get into the holiday groove from 3 to 4 p.m.
Consisting of pianist Darrius Willrich, drummer D’Vonne Lewis and bassist Evan Flory-Barnes, Folks Project musicians have performed at festivals around the world and recently released their debut critically acclaimed album, “Live At The Triple Door."

🎨”Confluence” features five trees with white fabric ribbon where museum visitors have shared their pandemic experiences and memories. One thousand origami lilies hang from the ceiling.
