WASE Forward wants to sincerely thank Sen. Claire Wilson for her support and guidance on SSB 5114 throughout the legislative session in Washington. Sen. Wilson played a key role as our sponsor of the bill, which has recently been signed by Governor Inslee! Sen. Wilson's belief in the importance of culturally responsive and healing services for adults with lived experience of s*x trafficking has now made a profound impact on our community, and we are incredibly fortunate to have her as a champion for this cause. Thank you!

Thank you Rep. Tina Orwall for your leadership and support on SSB 5114 during this Washington legislative session. Rep. Orwall sponsored HB 1089 — the companion bill to SSB5114 — which has now been signed into law by Governor Jay Inslee! WASE Forward's policy work would have not been possible without Rep. Orwall's advocacy and belief that adult survivors of s*x trafficking in Washington need and deserve expanded care and resources.

Trafficking survivors propose bill to create first-of-its-kind services for other survivors 03/16/2023

Last night, WASE Forward's Jeri Moomaw and Mar Smith Brettmann were featured on KING 5News sharing about a proposed bill that is making its way through the Washington legislature. This bill aims to break down barriers and create first-of-its-kind services for adult s*x trafficking survivors in Washington, including housing, mental health services, and job training.

Moomaw said, “A lot of times we only have one chance with someone that's been brave enough to come forward and say I need help."

We are thrilled to continue spreading the word in support of this crucial legislation that would greatly benefit s*x trafficking survivors across Washington.
