Dear Javier, Dahlia, and Daizelle,

My favorite memory with you is when we were in the car and you browsed through my old CD collection, and enthusiastically popped in my copy of Frankenstein Girls Will Seem Strangely Sexy. I hadn’t listened to that album in years, and I knew the band had long since been reviled for their abhorrent behavior. But in that moment, you let us put all of that aside and simply enjoy the weird niche music from our youth together.

I’m glad I helped document your legacy. I hope you didn’t mind too much about the bits of your videos where the camera jittered or the light washed out or the focus went out of whack.

Thank you for always being kind and friendly towards me. I promise to always remember you.

Last month, had the honor of gracing our stage as both our spicy oppa and vanilla unnie. I had been looking forward to meeting Joona Bae for several months, I had heard that he was on the October roster. Representation is one of the core values in today’s burlesque scene, and seeing one of my ethnic people perform to old-timey Korean music at the Rendezvous was everything to me.

I sat next to Joona Bae at dinner after the show, and she made me feel seen and appreciated the whole time. Thank you for gracing us with your presence, and I hope to see you again someday.
