Theresa (Terri) Cesarini, travel school nurse, is featured in Happenings Magazine's "Salute to Nurses" Edition this month.
In the article, she speaks to the challenges students face, opportunities unique to school nursing, and the collaborative travel school nurse pilot that began this past fall. The article highlights the critical role of the school nurse in advancing student (and community) health, and we’re grateful for her efforts to spread the word about this important work.

It’s National School Nurse Day! Join us in celebrating the incredible school nurses in our region! These highly trained medical professionals are on the front lines of meeting the health needs of students. Their work goes far beyond bandaging playground scrapes; it includes helping students manage chronic health conditions, learn healthy habits, and connect to community resources. As their role has expanded over the years, so has their impact, and we are proud to honor and support their unwavering commitment and care today—on School Nurse Day—and every day.

One of Moses Taylor Foundation's four Focus Areas is Nonprofit Effectiveness - we know our mission cannot be accomplished without well-resourced, resilient nonprofit partners. As part of this commitment, we are happy to be partnering with Hawk Family Foundation, The Luzerne Foundation, Scranton Area Community Foundation, and Wayne County Community Foundation, to support a cohort of 10 local nonprofits in Bonterra's Jumpstart fundraising capacity building program. Last week, our team and board members visited Peer Help United Network (PHUN) in Luzerne County. PHUN is a peer-run organization that leverages the power of shared life experiences to foster a supportive network and provide non-clinical support for individuals and caregivers of children navigating emotional and mental health challenges. It is the first family- and peer-run organization in Pennsylvania, and its bright, welcoming office space in Kingston mirrors the safe, collaborative nature of its daily work.
Navigating NEPA's system of care and providers can be challenging, but PHUN's team has jumped right in to make the journey a bit less daunting for individuals and families in Luzerne and Wyoming Counties. We are very proud to support this unique, collaborative work and are eager to watch PHUN grow its services and team across our service area.
