We noticed this page is still getting attention, despite "Occupy Scranton" no longer formally existing. So, we'd like to spread the word about a new project that some of our former Occupiers are involved with: The Northeast Pennsylvania branch of the Industrial Workers of the World.
The IWW is a member-run union for all workers, a union dedicated to organizing on the job, in our industries and in our communities. IWW members are organizing to win better conditions today and build a world with economic democracy tomorrow. We want our workplaces run for the benefit of workers and communities rather than for a handful of bosses and executives.

"In the trial, physical evidence was considered suspect but the testimony of the police was cast as infallible. Despite photographs of her bruised body, including her right breast, the prosecution cast doubt upon McMillan's allegations of being injured by the police – all while Officer Bovell repeatedly identified the wrong eye when testifying as to how McMillan injured him. And not only was Officer Bovell's documented history of violent behavior deemed irrelevant by the judge, but so were the allegations of his violent behavior that very same night."

When Norris’ master followed him there, intent on taking him back to the South, pitchfork-wielding neighbors convinced the slaveholder to return home without him. Norris later helped construct a church for the local community (1844).

Students should not be debt slaves to the big banks. We need to support students to build a better future. It is a crime that big banks pay a loan rate of 0.75% while a student has to pay 7%
