Right now, I am feeling compassion and empathy for all of the bridal clients affected by the recent fire at an alterations business in Clarks Summit. My heart goes out to the business owners, their family, and their clients. As someone who works closely with brides and their families, I can only imagine the stress and heartbreak many are experiencing right now.

If your wedding gown or other special garment was lost or damaged, I am available to help. I own and operate a design and sewing studio in downtown Scranton, specializing in bridal alterations and custom design.

Then & now. Humble beginnings for Vecina.

On May 18th of 2020, I signed a lease at 701 Cedar Avenue in the South Side of Scranton on a gut feeling that I could and would manufacture masks during the pandemic — I shipped thousands.

Six years later, in May 2026, Vecina has grown into something I never could have imagined. What started from necessity turned into a space where I could fully explore my creativity.

Since then, I’ve designed and manufactured a bag line, created gowns for mothers of brides and grooms, altered bridal gowns, made custom bridal gowns, and taught both private and group sewing lessons. Some days I feel completely focused and right on track, and other days I still have no idea what’s coming next. That’s the reality of building something creative from the ground up. And let's not forget about moving into a beautiful new space in Downtown Scranton.

Along the way, when difficult decisions had to be made, a good friend once told me to “do what you do best” and gracefully gave me the space to figure out what that meant. I think I have a pretty good idea now. I’m still figuring things out, but I’m incredibly proud of how far Vecina has come.

Thank you to everyone who has supported my business, trusted my work, taken a class, purchased a bag, ordered a gown, or simply encouraged me along the way. It means more than you know.

Here is Jeanine at the Summer Shift Class. Her muslin was perfectly fit, she 100% altered her pattern, and just a little more sewing to go. Now she has a pattern she loves, and she plans to make this dress over and over. 😍

Julia has finished up her corset and muslin for her after party dress. I think today we will cut into the good fabric. 😍
