Rotterdam Fire District 2

Man saved on Thruway after dump truck overturns in Rotterdam It took first responders longer than an hour to free the man using hydraulic rescue tools.

This afternoon, RFD #2’s probationary firefighters conducted basic ladder skills. Firefighters reviewed the different types of ladders, the anatomy of a ladder, how to properly place and set up a ladder, how to climb and lock oneself onto a ladder, and many other topics.

A few photos from yesterday’s Rotterdam Memorial Day Parade! Thank you to all those who came out to support this local event!

This past Saturday, firefighters from RFD2 as well as Fort Hunter Fire Company, conducted live fire evolutions run by Capital Technical Rescue and Safety Consultants.

Evolutions started off with Thermal Imaging Camera (TIC) operations. Then came simulated basement fires and navigating hoselines in stairwells. Throughout the entire day, crews also practiced communications as well as working in teams.

**STRUCTURE FIRE**

RFD #2 is responding to a 2nd alarm structure fire on Hamburg Street, in Carman’s Fire District.

Please stay clear of the area, as this is still a very active scene.

Today, RFD #2 along with Fort Hunter Fire Company took part in some great technical rescue training instructed by , specifically utilizing our rescue equipment.

Firefighters practiced using the various types of rescue equipment on Rescue 1242.

A huge thank you to for allowing us to use their yard as well as their vehicles.
