One of my favorite videos partly because FC Barcelona shared it on their page and I couldn’t believe it!

Should I do more of these?

Traveling through Germany and Austria and seeing all the beautiful wood pieces with black-filled knots reminded me of this ash tabletop. Filled this one with black Rangate knot filler—same idea, letting the imperfections stand out instead of hiding them. Funny how inspiration shows up when you’re not even in the shop

Splines aren’t just structural — when you cut them into the mitered corners of a frame, they become part of the design. Hardwood + contrast wood splines = a frame built to last a lifetime.
This one’s for our wedding photo. Some things deserve to be built right. 🪵❤️

Making a hemlock griddle tray—starting with a panel glue-up, then hand cutting the border to shape it. A mix of machine work and hand work, but it’s starting to come together

Running the boards through the drum sander before glue-up to get everything flat, then sending the panel back through after glue-up to clean it up. Love this tool for keeping things consistent. Check out the final tray at the end—want to see how it’s made?

Morning shop views. Finished tray and a mini split ready to replace the non working one so I can finish the tongue and groove!

After blacking out the frame with India ink, it all comes together—glass, picture, and cardboard backer, secured with frame clips. Always nice seeing it go from parts to a finished piece.

How many clamps is too many clamps? Still not sure. Pulling all of them off this hand-cut tray build and hoping I used just enough… or maybe a few extra for good measure

Making some handles for this griddle tray. Started with a Forstner bit to open up the ends, connected the cuts with a jigsaw, then finished it off with a smooth roundover. Simple process, clean feel in the hand.

Cutting dados to accept the bottoms of these boxes. Snuck up on the width with two passes on the table saw—first cut, then a small fence adjustment to dial it in, which is easy with the Harvey Big Eye rip fence. Probably could’ve grabbed a push stick here, but felt comfortable with the setup.
