Schenectady County Restaurant Week is set to return from February 23 to March 1. Over 25 restaurants are participating and will be offering special fixed-price menus.

♥️ We are looking for volunteers for this Sunday, 2/15 to help with setup, sharing, and cleanup. Setup starts at 2:30, sharing starts at 4:00, and cleanup begins around 5:15.

We could use help with donations for these “departments” this week:

🟧 Pantry: Chef Boyardee, Hormel/ready heat meals, tuna, canned chicken, Vienna sausages, canned stews, canned fruit, fruit cups, canned veggies, pasta sauce, rice, ramen, jelly, cereal, oatmeal packets, breakfast bars, granola bars.

🟩 Produce: bananas, carrots, grapes, oranges, potatoes, onions, tomatoes, garlic, peppers, cucumbers, clementines

🟨 Drinks: milk/milk cards, juice boxes, bottled juice, tea, coffee, hot chocolate packets, breakfast drink packets.

🟦 Hygiene & Baby: Toilet paper

🟪 The Closet (for those experiencing homelessness): tuna packets, crackers

🟫 Pet Pantry: Wet and dry dog and cat food, cat litter, gently used collars, leashes, bowls, and beds.

⬜️ Special Table: 🎒 gently used backpacks, duffle bags, and luggage with wheels ❄️ Gently used and new winter hats, gloves, and mittens.

📌REMINDER: StreetSoldiers Schenectady is a members only club supporting current residents of the Downtown, Vale and Eastern Ave, Seward Place, and Hamilton Hill Neighborhoods of Schenectady only.

🛑 We are not accepting clothing, housewares, bedding, accessories, or books until spring. Thank you.

📦 Donations can be dropped off “curbside” Sundays between 3:00 and 4:00 pm in the parking lot we borrow from the Zion Lutheran Church located at 153 Nott Terrace, Schenectady.

🥫🧼🐶Pantry and hygiene donations, pet food, and reusable bags (only) can be dropped off 7 days a week at our drop location at the JCC of Schenectady located at 2565 Balltown Rd. The donation intake shed is beige, marked with a banner and located behind the main building.

👋If you would like to volunteer you are welcome any Sunday. We volunteer completely outside all year. Volunteers arrive in the parking lot of the Zion Lutheran Church at 2:30 PM for set up and donation intake. Looking forward to meeting you!

🚙 The borrowed Zion parking lot is closed to all traffic between 4:00 and 5:30 PM. We do not allow any cars to enter or exit during that time.

It is with a heavy heart that we share the news that a cherished member of our street and community for over 60 years has announced its closure.

Gershon's Deli has been a place where I could get advice over a freshly made bagel and an intuitively poured second cup of coffee while hearing about the neighborhood kids' newest achievements on the baseball field. I treasure those moments  of nostalgia you can’t get just anywhere.

We are deeply saddened to see such a cherished part of the community close its doors.

We are all in this together! Stay safe and warm.

We kindly request that you be mindful of parking for snow removal purposes, especially in our parking lot, as plows and clean-up crews will be working hard today.
