Metroplex staff attended the annual Historic Preservation Awards last night at City Hall. Four projects where Metroplex played a role received awards including the renovation of 3 State Street, 101 State Street, the Elmer Avenue School (now Elmer Gardens) and 9 Yates Street. Congrats to all the award winners!

Work has started on a new Metroplex mural this time on Upper Union Street next to Subway. The mural will pay homage to Central Park.

The Department of Labor has released information about manufacturing jobs in NYS. Schenectady County ranked 3rd statewide for most manufacturing jobs added.

Our colleagues at the Center for Economic Growth just shared the latest information from the Census Bureau on 2025 city population estimates. Schenectady grew faster than Saratoga as far as actual resident count and ranked 4th for percentage increase. See chart here:

A new childcare center is now under construction in Niskayuna. We thank Governor Hochul and Empire State Development for providing a grant of $500,000 toward the project. We also thank the Town of Niskayuna for their support.

Governor Hochul announced a $6.65 million grant today for our Land Bank. The funding will be used to build single family homes in Schenectady replacing vacant lots with new quality, affordable homes. Link to Governor Hochul's press release below:

More public art will be popping up across Schenectady this year as 26 artists turn utility boxes into eye-catching mini murals. This project is being funded by Metroplex. We thank CREATE Community Studios and the more than 70 artists who applied to be part of the project. Locations include Erie Blvd, Broadway, Union Street, Michigan Avenue, Brandywine Avenue and many more.
