Schenectady Restoration Project

Some post-work house work and ran out of daylight, but a couple spotlights saved the day and we were able to finish the last three top pieces completing the bottom rusticated facade replacement! This section had been horribly water damaged, but no more! Fingers crossed the weather stays so we can paint it this week!

Ran out of daylight before we could install the last two boards on the front. But they are cut and we are SO close to having the original siding finally all patched up.

There remains a section at the top that needs to be added since the original roof came down lower than the original siding, but that is for the weeks ahead.

Another section of rusticated paneling is cut and installed! This was a section damaged by years of water that rotted the 1700s boards which were there originally 😭

Major progress alert! 🚨We have officially finished the kitchen floor installation! I can’t even begin to tell you have complex this was. These are all the original 1760s 12-14” wide and 1.5” planks from our third floor. We had to scrape paint and clean every board, re-cut the widths since they were almost all inconsistent from one end to the other, re-cut the tongue and groove, then cut to length. But… she’s done! And omg we are SO happy!

However much I want it to not be the end of summer, I’m accepting Fall vibes.

All the kitchen floorboards are scraped and measured. Now to start piecing them together. Anyone want to guess how many are remotely similar? HINT: Not many. 😵‍💫
