Morris Wood Floors

Rift & quarter sawn red oak, added some new wood, repaired a few spots then sanded and refinished everything, pleased with how it all turned out. Duraseal chestnut with 2 coats of bona traffic hd extra matte.

Coolest room I’ve worked on. One of many to refinish in this house but this is “The ballroom” all walnut with some American cherry in the border. Original since 1980 🍊, stained dark walnut, top coated with semi gloss.

🥲 The only thing I messed up on this job was… I didn’t get any dry pics after final coat. Not every job do I make time or get the chance to see after completion, it is something I’m trying to do more of👍🏼 A little job info, this room used to be 2 rooms, had a wall on each end and the pine floor ran a different direction in each, they punched out the interior walls, made it one big room, didn’t like the floor direction change, plus was gonna need patching anyways because of walls being removed, we pulled the floor up carefully, saved 95% of it and reinstalled it all running one direction, then of course sanded & refinished it all! The MORRIS WOOD FLOOR WAY! 💪🏼🫶🏼

Leading up to this job I believed this floor to be Cumaru, but after sanding it an seeing how soft it is I honestly have no idea, some boards are furry after sanded, almost looks like a mix species in areas. Some kinda teak?? Whatever it is, I sanded it as flat and smooth as I know how, sealed it “intensely” and put 2 coats of traffic hd matte on it.

Engineered heart pine downstairs, solid upstairs, pretty difficult lace in from kitchen cabinets/island relocation but who doesn’t like a challenge once in awhile. All sanded and finished natural with 2 coats of matte water finish.

Antique heart pine stained golden brown / natural 3:1 and 2 top coats of Bona traffic HD satin.

Rotary cut is far from my favorite, but it is still a wood floor ❤️
