I recently attended the farewell for Rep. Calvin Smyre, who is leaving the House after 47 years of service! Rep. Smyre will continue his service as the U.S. Ambassador to Dominican Republic.
I also got the chance to meet with Georgia’s next Governor, Stacey Abrams. I look forward to meeting with Leader Abrams in Savannah and working to get her elected in November!

Today we celebrated HBCU Heritage Day at the Capitol! I was thrilled to visit with Savannah State University President Kimberly Ballard-Washington and Executive Director of Government Relations LeAndrea Mikell. President Ballard-Washington presented me with a beautiful framed photo of SSU’s historic Hill Hall.

Yesterday was the first day of the legislative session. It was a short one, because Georgia football was on a lot of people's minds! I was pleased to see my colleagues, including my friend, Rep. Al Williams of Midway. Although both chambers are off today, I am at the Capitol, meeting with staff and getting ready to work for my neighbors in HD 165!
