Star Lab is beyond blessed to be able to walk over to participate in outstanding programming at the Historic Leonard Reid House throughout the year. This week our students learned pottery from teaching artist, Osa Atoe. We are elevated by our students’ creativity, always!

SUPERSTAR SUNDAY - Meet Ms. Valeria, our newest camp counselor! Star Lab is so grateful to the Sarasota Chamber of Commerce for the InternConnect program that brought us together. Summer camp is an amazing opportunity for all of us to grow and learn. ☀️

Star Lab summer camp starts Monday, June 8! We are welcoming enrolled students for six weeks of summer fun and learning. Huge thanks to the leadership of the Newtown CRA whose investment in our program allows us to provide such high-value education for FREE!

SUPERSTAR SUNDAY - Educators who love to learn!!! A story in 4 parts:
1. March 2025 - Ms. Alison travels to ResearchED NYC, and meets leaders in evidence-informed instruction from across the world. She is particularly impressed by Scottish educator (and former bartender - who UNDERSTANDS behavior) Tom Bennett (on stage) and buys his book, Running the Room, for the Star Lab teachers. Behavior management underlies every part of a school’s success.
2. Ms. Natalia avidly reads the book, bringing it everywhere for the next year, from her son’s soccer practice to her daughter’s horseback riding lessons.
3. The whole Star Lab teams travels to ResearchED NYC in May 2026 for another jolt of inspiration and insight. We meet more outstanding speakers and researchers, and buy many more books. But Tom Bennett isn’t there…
4. Ms. Natalia rearranges her summer and travels up to ResearchED Atlanta on June 6 to meet her hero! His presentation was outstanding, and he took a picture of her now-well-used book.

Star Lab staff are fired up about learning and our results show it! Happy summer everyone, and remember, learning never stops! 🤩🤩🤩

WEDNESDAY WOW - What a year! We are so honored to have been a part of these students' story. They have worked hard and grown so much. One of the most common phrases you will hear at Star Lab is, "I mastered a new skill!" Our students love our mastery learning curriculum and how clearly it illuminates their progress.

We are spending our final week with a celebration of childhood. Yesterday we took a "playground tour" - hanging out at The Bay, Selby Library, and the Circus Playground (aka Payne Park). Today you'll find us on the indoor slides at Kids Empire!
