Last summer I talked with local a professional sports team about employing those from the needs-based society and/or allowing those from the needs-based society the same opportunities all others receive.
"We are open to that, and tried it in the past. But the problem with them is we have to employ their parents to watch over and take care of them," was the response I got.
Fortunately not all pro sports team have that belief. RIP Craig Lynch, Chicago sports and the needs based society will miss you.

This Friday, December 3rd, is being recognized as International Day of Persons with Disabilities. Well, if Friday is being recognized as International Day of Persons with Disabilities, we here at the Special Needs World Hall of Fame would like to have Saturday, December 4th recognized as International Day of Persons with Special Abilities. You see, when we see someone facing challenges or obstacles and doing what it takes to overcome them, we don’t see that as a disability, we see it as an amazing accomplishment that shows how truly special that individual is. While we recognize where their challenges may be, we choose to use positive uplifting empowering terminology to describe a human being instead of having them be recognized by their “societal imperfections.” While some people may want to point out the things that they believe we can't do, we are here to share the stories of when we proved those same people wrong!
At 4 years old she contracted polio and was told she would never walk again. She would go on to become the first female to win three gold medals in a single Olympics and one of the most recognized Olympians of all-time. Who is she?
After a traumatic brain injury left her with epilepsy, Araminta Ross, codename "Moses" was the first woman to lead a combat assault and also found a cure for troops suffering from dysentery in the process. But what is her most notable accomplishment?
Mandates seem to be the new cool trend. While this is not being talked about and has never been talked about before, I want to know what your thoughts are about mandating that the basics of American Sign Language be taught in our elementary schools. Would this create more job opportunities in the future or not?
