Lunch date with my honey at a local trattoria. Delicious food for such a reasonable price! If you’re ever in the area, it’s a great stop at Quadrifoglio in Salita. Simple, tasty local cuisine. We had a lovely conversation with the owner and commiserated over the woes of owning a small restaurant! Turns out it’s hard work no matter where you are. However we had all this food, a liter of still water, half liter of house white and a slice of almond cake for a total of 56 euros out the door!

Italy has been stinking hot, but the food is makes it all more bearable! This is “La Mondiola”, a salame typical of the Tuscan tradition, in particular of the Garfagnana, the Serchio Valley and the Lunigiana. It is a highly prized salame made with pork, ground to medium grain, and characterized by the typical horseshoe or “U” shape joined by a central bay leaf. Let me tell you, it’s absolutely delicious with some crusty homemade bread! 😋

These are the perks of having a brother in law who is a supreme baker! This is what I woke up to today!
La Sbriciolona -it is a typical torte from Lucca. This is made with a shortbread crust filled with apricot jam, apples and pastry cream. So delicious!
If you find yourself in Lucca, stop by La Sforneria in Viale San Concordio for some goodies!

Today’s labor of love! Freshly picked tomatoes from my brother-law’s garden, harvested by Luca and made into a sweet delicious sauce by my mother-in-law. Those hands have made many pots of “Pomarola” and she’s one of the reasons Luca has always had a love of cooking. Of course, no one comes close to Mamma’s food!❤️. From start to finish, the house smells of deliciousness! 😋

Morning chores….hanging laundry! Nothing like the smell of fresh laundry and sunshine. Slowly getting into the grove of daily life 😊👍🏻

We had dinner tonight at the new Parkside Eats on Montgomery drive where the old Lepe’s Taqueria was and it was delicious! They have done a beautiful job remodeling and making the interior feel a little brighter and welcoming with a window to the kitchen and a cute bar area. I had the fish tacos, the fish had the most delicate batter and was cooked to perfection with delicious pickled onions and a chipotle aioli, I love fish tacos and these are some of the best I’ve had! My husband had the Sea Bass and it was also perfectly cooked and seasoned with a delicious salsa over rice. We started with the Brussel sprouts appetizer but ate them before I could take a photo! We were too full for dessert, but the offerings looked tempting. We highly recommend this delicious new addition to the Santa Rosa food scene. They are open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner seven days a week, and we know how much work that is, so let’s go out support them! Prices were very reasonable and the service was friendly too! We wish them all the best!

Well, it’s been a week since my last post and everything has started to sink in. Luca and I have enjoyed reading all of your sweet comments, and we have loved hearing about all of your great memories with us. With over 400 comments, it’s hard to respond individually, but rest assured that we really felt the love and that we have read each and every word of every single one of them! We are also taking to heart your suggestions for publishing a cookbook and/or bottling our Caesar dressing, so if anyone has any experience or connections in those areas feel free to reach out! Please follow us on Instagram as we will keep posting about our future endeavors. We miss you ALL already and we wish you and your families all the best, Ciao for now.

As you know, we have been closed for winter break during the month of January, during this time, we have given it much thought and have decided that the time has come to close the chapter on running the restaurant. As a result, we will not be reopening as previously scheduled. We have spent the last 35 years serving this community and have made some incredible memories and friends along the way. We have been blessed with a great staff and the best customers and it has truly been a pleasure to be part of so many of your special days. From weddings, rehearsals, birthdays, anniversaries, etc., we thank you all for choosing to celebrate with us. We will miss serving you and sharing our love of food and our family recipes with you. We aren’t quite sure what the next chapter looks like yet, but for now we are looking forward to some down time, a trip to Italy to spend time with our family and taking advantage of our good health to have some new adventures. We wish you all good health and happiness, and many thanks for the memories, Arrivederci!
