Wayne brought a stack of old menus for Tierra’s weekly boxes from exactly 26 years ago!
Evie was the author and she wrote it each week from scratch. Every item came with description, flavor profile, cooking instructions and/or recipe suggestions. Sometimes even with a funny remark:
‘CARROTS: Eat them. They are good for you! Look how long Bugs Bunny has been around.’

How to husk your corn.
PS-only steam your corn in the husk like this if you have fresh, organically grown, preferably local sweet corn. Don’t ever use pesticide sprayed or old moldy corn.
Extra early dry bean harvest. Finished up by the end of July because they were planted way back early in March. This is an old English variety called Brighstone. Glad we don’t have to worry about dragging tarps full of beans into the hoop house before early fall rains.

Oh no! The guys picked a full bin of the fabulous Serendipity sweet corn and a bin full of half broccoli/half cauliflower. It’s too hot to load them into the truck now. They’re nice and cool in the back of the barn. So we have to load in the morning for the Foodwise Ferry Plaza Farmers Market. Which means Wayne has to come over in the morning OR he could spend the night here and try and catch the guy who’s been stealing strawberries in the night and left his headlamp here last night. Doesn’t look like a very good sleep tonight.
