Aaron Rodgers hasn't taken a snap as the quarterback of the Green Bay Packers since 2022 but Packers fans would be lying if they said they weren't still invested in his every move. The Rodgers intrigue has grown even more in recent years, as he's been linked countless times to division rival Minnesota.

At this stage in his career, Rodgers going to the Vikings wouldn't necessarily be a major threat but, according to a recent report, that doesn't sound like it'll be happening. During an appearance on 93.7 The Fan in Pittsburgh, Aditi Kinkhabwala of CBS Sports gave an update on Rodgers and what he might do this offseason.

"Having spoken to people who were around him, who have been around him, most everyone that I've spoken to who has been around him feels that the chance that he comes back to play is minuscule, so you take that for what it's worth," Kinkhabwala said on Wednesday. "In conversations with people who were around him all year, who were with him when he was leaving the Steelers when the season was over, all of those people that I spoke to said that it seems far more likely that he is done than that he is going to return."

If this report is true, then it sure sounds like Rodgers is going to step away from football. Things haven't gone well for him since the Packers traded him in the 2023 offseason, as he was injured during his first year with the Jets, then, when healthy in 2024, the Jets still continued to struggle with him under center. He joined the Steelers in 2025 and helped them make the playoffs but they got demolished by the Texans.

Former Packers head coach Mike McCarthy is now the head coach in Pittsburgh so there's an opportunity for Rodgers and him to reunite if the 42-year-old quarterback opts to return. But, again, Rodgers is 42 and will turn 43 near the end of the 2026 season. He's not the same guy that he was during his prime with the Packers.

Rodgers will eventually have to call it a career and it sounds like we're inching closer to that happening. The fact that Vikings fans will likely be bummed out about this makes the report even funnier for Packers fans. Maybe Minnesota will have to stick with J.J. McCarthy after all.
