We create health for people, communities and the planet through love, healing food & empowering youth

Key facets of our approach include:
-Supporting individuals with serious illness with free or low-cost delivered organic meals, nutrition education and a community of caring.
-Involving young people as volunteer gardeners and chefs, giving them direct hands-on experience of the difference that fresh, healthy foods and community make, and of their own capacity to contribute.
-Educating the broade

We are incredibly grateful to welcome back Chokmalichi Farm and Vineyard as a generous sponsor for this year's Harvest of the Heart! 🌿✨

Their deep commitment to "making good and doing good" resonates so perfectly with our mission. In the Chickasaw language, the verb chokmalichi translates directly to that beautiful principle, which the proprietors of this native-owned Sebastopol farm live out every day through the regenerative care and stewardship of their land.

Year after year, Chokmalichi Farm feeds our community by donating countless pounds of organic fruits, vegetables, and flowers to local senior centers and food banks. We are deeply honored to have their continued partnership as we work together to cultivate nourishment, and youth empowerment across Sonoma and Marin counties.

We are keeping the party going! 🎉 We just couldn’t help but share a few more of our favorite moments from our Volunteer Appreciation Party last week.

Looking through these photos, we are reminded of just how lucky we are to have such an awesome community of adult volunteers. From the beautiful smiles to the excitement of the raffle drawings and live music, the energy in our new Santa Rosa home was absolutely magical.

To every single person who came out to celebrate with us, and to all of our volunteers who bring their heart and dedication to Ceres every day, thank you! You are the true heartbeat of our mission. 💚

One of our awesome volunteers, Brent Nowicki, has entered the national Favorite Chef competition and he has pledged to donate the entire $25,000 grand prize straight back to Ceres if he wins! 😲💚

Brent has been passionate about food since he first learned to cook at just eight years old, and we are so lucky that he now brings that heart and talent to his volunteer work at Ceres. When asked what he would do with the prize money, he said: “I would donate it to the Ceres Community Project, where I volunteer. I think the money would be better off supporting them serving healthy meals to my community... Ceres deserves it.” 🥹❤️

Whether he’s whipping up Italian, fresh seafood, or Mexican cuisine, Brent always cooks straight from the heart. Now, it’s our turn to show him some love! Let’s help him bring home the title and support our community at the same time. 🍽️🚚

You can cast your vote for him once a day for free.

Last week we hosted our very first Volunteer Appreciation Party at our new, state-of-the-art facility in southwest Santa Rosa! It was an incredibly special evening filled with laughter, Ceres swag, raffle prizes—including tickets to this years’ Harvest of the Heart and live music from the Barn Wreckers. 🎸✨

Most importantly, it was an opportunity to say a massive thank you to our beautiful community of adult volunteers that keeps Ceres moving forward. This year alone, the time and care our volunteers gifted to us represented well over $1 million in monetary value.

Whether you have been with us for years, lovingly transitioned with us from Sebastopol to our new space, or just recently joined us, thank you for being such an important part of our mission. It truly takes a village, and we are so grateful for your patience, dedication, and willingness to show up for our neighbors every single day.

Thank you for making our new space feel like a home! 🌟🌱

The future of healthcare is being shaped right now, and Ceres is honored to be at the table! Our Founder and CEO, Cathryn Couch, and Director of Development and Community Affairs, Deborah Ramelli, traveled to Washington, D.C., this week to represent Ceres Community Project at the very first .

This groundbreaking national conference brought together over 800 advocates, researchers, and policymakers dedicated to the future of the Food is Medicine movement.

On June 1, Cathryn took the stage as a featured panelist for “Farm to FIM: Scaling Values-Aligned Purchasing in Practice,” sharing our community-centered model and discussing how we can expand sustainable, values-aligned food systems across the country.

Following the conference, our team joined fellow members of the California Food is Medicine Coalition on Capitol Hill to meet with the offices of two senators, including the staff of Senator Adam Schiff and three representatives. They were among 300 Food is Medicine advocates visiting nearly every congressional office in a massive show of support, ensuring that the beautiful connection between nutrition and healing remains a national priority.

We are incredibly proud to see our team leading these national conversations and bringing the spirit of Ceres to the heart of our country’s capital! 🌟🤝

You don't need much space to grow an abundant, self-sustaining edible garden. We are moving right into the second session of our free permaculture series with teacher Mario Tapia, and our next workshop focuses on Creating a Food Forest in Your Yard at our new Santa Rosa site.

This hands-on class covers how to stack fruit trees, perennial herbs, and beneficial flowers together in "multi-story" layouts that maximize production in small spaces. You'll get to learn the design theory and immediately put it into practice by helping us plant out a brand-new food forest and set up its irrigation at our community hub.

Here are all the details for this session:
🗓️ When: Friday, June 12 | 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm
📍 Where: 1237 Apollo Way, Santa Rosa
🙌 Cost: Free, bilingual, family-friendly, and open to all ages!

Whether you missed the first class or are coming back for more, we'd love to have you out in the garden with us.
