Why I Race: Beyond the Track Day
For many riders, the track day is the pinnacle a safe place to push limits, learn skills, and connect with the sport. I respect that. In fact, it’s where many of us start. But for me, the journey didn’t stop there. I race because it brings out something deeper a level of commitment, discipline, and growth I couldn't find anywhere else.
Racing isn’t about speed alone. It’s about responsibility. The responsibility to train smart, to show up prepared, and to be accountable not only to myself but to those who look up to me. I'm not just racing for podiums, I’m racing because I’ve chosen to be part of a community that pushes each other to be better every weekend. A racer doesn’t just ride laps. A racer leads.
I’ve won championships. I’ve stood on top steps. But I’ve also mentored riders through their first novice grid, helped diagnose suspension issues in the paddock, and stayed behind after hours so someone else could load up with a little more confidence. That’s why I race. Not just to compete but to give back, to grow the sport, and to show what's possible when discipline meets passion.
Track days are valuable, I teach them, I believe in them. But racing? Racing demands a different kind of dedication. It means embracing pressure, riding through setbacks, staying focused when things go sideways, and still having the clarity to help the next rider rise. It’s a mindset, a lifestyle, and at times, a sacrifice. But it’s worth every bit of it.
I race because I’m not done growing. Because I still believe in the fundamentals. Because when the grid fills up and the flag drops, it’s not just about me it’s about representing the kind of rider I’ve worked hard to become.
