Homes for Sonoma
We started as a small group one Sunday afternoon almost a week after the fires started.
Our Goal: to provide temporary housing for displaced residents of Sonoma County so we can rebuild.

Coming Home
One week after fires devastated parts of our community, a small group of designers, architects, builders and community leaders called a meeting to discuss how we could help. There were so many displaced residents in the aftermath of the fires. We felt an urgent need to provide a clear, practical, responsible way to rebuild our community. We wanted not only to serve the needs of survivors, but also to address the affordable housing crisis in Sonoma County.
The idea: temporary communities of small, modular homes. We would collaborate with local land owners to place neighborhoods on private property. Survivors could live in these spaces for 3-5 years during the initial rebuild. Afterwards, the homes would be sold within Sonoma County as accessory dwelling units (granny units). In this way they would become permanent, affordable housing. Proceeds from their sales would benefit local non-profit Burbank Housing. And Burbank would help residents find permanent homes.
Our goal is to provide leadership on the journey to rebuild our homes, communities, and lives. Our plan provides affordable, high-quality homes to our neighbors while addressing long-term needs.
For a year we have worked together to make our vision a reality.
