DFR® (Dermal-Fascial Restoration®) and FST (Fascia Stretch Therapy™) are both fascia-focused techniques, but they work very differently.
DFR starts with the superficial layers, assessing how the skin and fascia move and glide. When those layers are restricted, they can influence how the deeper tissues and ultimately the whole body move.
FST looks at movement from a different angle, using assisted stretching, traction, and movement through multiple joints to improve mobility and freedom of movement.
This is why I love having both tools available.
Sometimes I find an area where the tissue itself isn’t gliding well. Other times, I see that the body isn’t moving well through a particular pattern. And very often, it’s a little bit of both.
You don’t need to come in knowing whether you need DFR or FST. I’m assessing that throughout your session and adjusting the work based on what I find.
Because the goal isn’t to fit your body into a technique.
It’s to use the right technique for your body.

“Is that normal?”
I hear that question all the time when an area feels unexpectedly intense during a session.
The answer is usually more interesting than you might think.
I put together a new blog explaining why bodywork—especially fascia-focused work—can sometimes create sharp, warm, stinging, or highly specific sensations, and what those sensations may tell us.
