Rose bouquet

The history of garden roses began at the end of the 18th - beginning of the 19th centuries, when species of evergreen heat-loving roses with a peculiar aroma of petals reminiscent of the smell of tea were brought to Europe (first to England and then to France) from Southeast Asia.

The huge variety of rose varieties that currently exists is formed by crossing and selective selection of several varieties of wild rose hips.

Roses were first grown in ancient Rome, although the main purpose of the gardens of that time was the cultivation of useful plants (fruit, vegetable, spicy and medicinal), but in the works of ancient Roman writers there is a description of about 10 varieties of roses.

Some varieties are forms of wild species.

Most of the varieties of roses are obtained as a result of long-term selection through repeated crosses and selection.
