The power of perspective and the power of prayer. The circumstances were slightly chaotic. Heavy rain and wild wind had largely affected Julia and Chandler’s day thus far. Seats were wet, table cloths were flying, Chandler was fixing everything, and Julia’s dress had become worn. All circumstances were less than ideal, a perfect excuse for a bitter attitude. But not Julia and Chandler. No, the emphasis was the presence of God. If He showed up, nothing else mattered. As this moment happened, perspective began to shift the circumstances. Wet chairs became filled with friends and family. Table cloths gathered around for a celebration feast. And Julia’s dress, perfectly representing the reunion we will have one day with Jesus. The Holy Spirit was present and it was tangible. He was all that mattered. And the celebration that followed was unforgettable. As Chandler said so beautifully, “This year, the first day of Summer was on June 1st. It came with rain and wind and Julia Holmes, the only sunshine I needed.”
