Every long-running series needs an archive.

After eleven birthday parties for the same twins, we’d accumulated enough history that we could treat those past parties like previous seasons of a show.

So for Reese & Stella’s celebration, we transformed the gifting suite into the back room of a fictional production studio.

Every box referenced a birthday that came before it.

Because before there’s ever a color palette, activity, or installation, there’s always a title.

And over time, those titles become stories.

The stories become memories.

And eventually, the memories need their own storage room🤭😎

For years, people have approached me about developing a television series around the world of children’s parties.

The challenge was never the parties.

The challenge was finding the right story… and the right way to tell it.

Because if it were obvious, someone would have already made the show.

Then, while creating a birthday celebration built around a television series that didn’t actually exist, I stumbled onto a story that just might.

For the first time, I think I found the hook.

And let’s face it…

Everyone needs this show.

The Little Train That Could! 🚂💨
For more than 25 years, our carnival-style kiddie train has been delighting little conductors and creating memories at backyard parties all across Los Angeles.

Still chugging. Still charming. Still one of our most requested attractions.

All aboard! 🎉

🚨PARTY PLANNER CONFESSION (the one about the straw 🥤)

👆This striped little diva received a completely unreasonable amount of attention.

The original plan was for it to be fully dimensional, bursting through the countertop and towering over guests.

The goal?
•Photos.
•Selfies.
•Laughter.

👉And let’s be honest… probably a little viral fame.

💁‍♀️Could we have built it? Absolutely.

Did it survive the budget meeting? It did not.🙂

So after much discussion and thoughtful deliberation, the giant straw was recast.

What survived was this version👆🙌

And honestly? We still love it.

What makes us laugh is that this event featured giant installations, custom builds, and countless moving pieces…

Yet somehow, the straw got the biggest seat at the discussion table.

RIP Giant Straw.
