November is National Veterans and Military Family Appreciation Month, a time to recognize the dedication, sacrifice, and service of those who have served and the families who support them.

We often think of emotions as being in our heart or our brain, but feelings can show themselves in many different parts or out bodies. Being able to recognize the signs of distress and how we react to them can be a great tool for both recovery and day to day life.

This guide was formatted for parents, but can be useful for anyone of any age who wants a way to touch base with themself.

If you are not familiar, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (aka SAMHSA) recently was subject to a "reduction in force." This is the organization overseeing the 988 lifeline, as well as helping support many other programs.
