I made a big one! Thank you for this for this rad opportunity. It was an honor to build and install my first public art piece in my own hood. I loved every minute of building this thing. The truly magical part was all the wonderful people I met while building it. Due to it’s size, I had to build it in my driveway which is off a bike trail. Every day I had somebody walk up and ask what I was building and why. The level of absolute stoke and encouragment was unreal and I can’t wait to do another one!

Been thinking a lot about Little League lately...
I decided to make a piece to pay homage to those formative years.

I plan to eventually do a large scale piece with 9 of these in a dugout style helmet cubbie because it doesnt make sense to put emphasis on just my helmet—There is no “I” in TEAM.

Earthenware, Gold luster and velvet flocking.

The process: The helmet part is slip cast, removed from the mold and the grill is hand-built and adhered while everything is still leather hard. Once everything is fired and glazed; I do one more gold luster firing. The final step is to velvet flock the helmet inside and out.

Don’t know what to call this… “Cube Vase”? Ive always wanted to make this shape though. A traditional vase shape reduced to it’s most primative geometry.
