SFARES will participate in the annual ARRL Field Day on June 22, 2019 beginning at 1200 local time. The location will be at Herb Martinez Park on Camino Carlos Rey in Santa Fe.

Every June, more than 40,000 hams throughout North America set up temporary transmitting stations in public places to demonstrate ham radio's science, skill and service to our communities and our nation. It combines public service, emergency preparedness, community outreach, and technical skills all in a single event. Field Day has been an annual event since 1933, and remains the most popular event in ham radio.

Come join us at the Food Depot this Saturday, June 23, as we put W5SAF on the air for a few hours. Set up begins mid morning and on-the-air activity begins at noon. All license classes are welcome as are unlicensed individuals. Come see how we may be of service to our community when regular communications becomes difficult. A demonstration of D-RATS, a digital communications aid, is included. Come, learn, socialize, and have some fun.

ARES personnel from Coconino County were a great aid to the Tinder Fire this past weekend.

Ham radio operators help save lives in Tinder Fire Amateur radios and their operators beat out modern technology last Sunday, possibly helping save lives in the Tinder Fire.

Join us at our the Saturday, May 12th from 9am-12pm,for a SKYWARN Spotter Training Class. It’s free and no registration is required. The class is taught by National Weather Service meteorologists. Even if you don’t want to volunteer as a weather spotter or for CoCoRaHs monitoring, it’s still a great way to learn about severe weather and how you can stay safe.
