Today, we celebrate what would have been the 101st birthday of Alexander ‘Sasha’ Shulgin! 🎉✨
While Sasha is often remembered for his discoveries and contributions to psychedelic science, his true legacy extends far beyond the laboratory. His meticulous research, intellectual curiosity, and commitment to open inquiry helped lay the groundwork for many of the conversations around psychedelics, healing, and cognitive liberty that continue to unfold today.
At Synergetic Press, it is an honor to steward some of Sasha’s most enduring works. Far ahead of his time, Ralph will be remembered for generations to come. He traversed the boundaries of traditional psychology through the integration of shamanic practices, altered states of consciousness, and expanded approaches to healing, which has deepened our collective understanding of the human psyche.
As a graduate student in the early 1960s, Ralph worked closely with Timothy Leary and Ram Dass (then Richard Alpert) on the Harvard psilocybin research. In the 1970s, his focus expanded into the intensive study and practice of yoga, incorporating meditation and life-energy practices into his work and worldview.
His legacy continues to inspire inquiry into consciousness, healing, and the deeper possibilities of human transformation.
