Santa Fe County Fire Department crews responded to reports of smoke near La Barbaria Road and Camino Cielo Alto at approximately 6:00 p.m. Tuesday evening.
Firefighters located a slow-moving wildland fire within the Santa Fe National Forest and immediately began suppression efforts alongside New Mexico State Forestry under a unified response.
At this time, the fire size remains undetermined. There are currently no threatened structures and no evacuation orders or warnings in place.
Two helicopters have been assigned to assist with aerial water drops as crews continue containment efforts.
Residents are asked to avoid the area and allow emergency personnel access to roadways and fire operations. Additional updates will be shared as information becomes available.

Due to extreme drought conditions and increased fire danger, the Santa Fe County Board of County Commissioners has approved temporary fireworks restrictions for unincorporated areas of Santa Fe County and all wildlands countywide.
The 30-day resolution bans the sale and use of certain fireworks, including missile-type rockets, aerial spinners, and other high-risk devices, to help reduce the risk of human-caused wildfires and protect public safety, firefighters, homes, and natural resources.
Residents are urged to use caution and follow all fire restrictions in place this summer.
