There are moments that come and go that change our outlook on life forever. The last 6 months have felt like a blur of moments that have altered every aspect of my life, all of which unforgettable.

Here's a few shots from our residency at Frogville Records In Santa Fe, New Mexico.

We gathered to create art & music for a purpose and calling larger than any of us could've imagined. Don Cherry embodied feeling, rhythm, and soul. He would convince artists that he collaborated with to search out where they came from and encourage them to begin playing the instruments of their peoples.

My favorite story was when he was an artist in residence & taught at Dartmouth College and convinced a good friend of his from NYC to fill in for a semester so that he could go on tour in Sweden. He borrowed a Native flute (Taos, NM) from their museum to record his "Blue Lake" album before he left overseas. He never got around to returning it before he went on tour. He called his buddy from Sweden and something to the effect of "Look, I know I told you it was only going to be a semester, but I'll be on tour over here for 3 years." (Not a direct quote) Lol, his buddy went on to teach for 3.5 years before returning to NYC, then later teaching again at Brown University. The flute is still out there somewhere and I'm honored to have told this story in song form for this album. I can't wait to share this album with everyone! It's so powerful 😍
