ILA staff love Hobee's

Coming soon, Hobee’s at 261 N. Second St., San Jose.

Camille and Danielle Chijate, owners of the Hobee’s restaurant chain and members of the Rainbow Chamber of Commerce, were looking for a replacement site for their North San Jose restaurant. They heard that a blue Victorian, German social club venue was available.

Renovations have started. The building was originally built in the 1890’s as a symphony hall and became Germania Hall in 1923. Hobee’s has been a Silicon Valley staple since 1974.

The new restaurant will continue to serve their signature menu and will offer some items with a Germanic flair. Chijates hope to have the new location open by Oktoberfest.

National Preparedness Month is recognized each September to encourage community emergency planning throughout the year. Floods, wildfires and earthquakes remind us to prepare for the unexpected. This year's goal is to focus on preparing older adults for potential hazards and disasters in Santa Clara County. Emergency preparedness takes a whole community. Together, community members and local government can learn how to better respond to and rebuild after an emergency or disaster strikes.
