This is Kim Potter — the officer who killed Daunte Wright... but did she know the difference between a handgun and a taser? Let’s review the facts:

She is a 26-year veteran of the Brooklyn Center Police Department. She was 6 YEARS into her law enforcement career when Daunte was BORN!

She also serves as police union president. She has defended questionable actions in the past.
Here’s an example of her doing just that:

After the fatal police shooting of Kobe Dimock-Heisler, Potter gave instructions to other officers on how to protect themselves and obscure accountability: “Officer Potter instructed Officers Turner аnd Akers to exit the residence, get into sepаrаte squаd cаrs, turn off their body worn cаmerаs, аnd to not tаlk to eаch other.”

Potter knew exactly what she was doing.
She knew how to obscure the truth.
In that instance, her actions were clearly intentional.

On September 26, 2020, around 9:59 p.m., a 29-year-old man entered the front lobby of the Harbor Community Police Station in Los Angeles, CA. He was contacted by the desk officer. For unknown reasons the suspect engaged the officer in a physical altercation with both of them going to the ground.

While on the ground the suspect managed to remove the officer’s firearm from his holster. The suspect continued his attack hitting the officer about the head with the gun causing lacerations and bleeding. At one point the suspect stands up and points the gun at the officer as he begins to retreat towards the front door.

The on-duty Assistant Watch Commander responded to the front lobby at which point the officer informed the her that suspect has his firearm. As the suspect was running out the door he turned and fired at the officer. She returned fire and broadcast on the radio an officer was down and an officer involved shooting had just occurred.

The suspect was not struck by gunfire and fled the station in his vehicle.

Responding officers located the suspect’s vehicle and a pursuit was initiated. The suspect eventually pulled over where he was taken into custody.

A loaded 9mm Berretta semi-automatic pistol was recovered from the suspect’s vehicle.

Paramedics responded to the scene and transported the officer to a local hospital where he was medically treated for non-life-threatening injuries and later released.

All video footage is from LAPD.
