Did you know that your tongue is a respiratory organ??

Where your tongue rests in your mouth (low or high) determines how you breathe!

AND where it rests + how you breathe affects your face shape, your ability to focus and even how well you sleep.

Myofunctional therapy retrains the dysfunctional muscles of your tongue, throat and face to function the way they were designed to!

Don’t sleep on that airway assessment!

Bed wetting. Ear infections. Speech delays. Crooked teeth.

Most parents don’t realize these can all be connected. 👀

Mouth breathing, low tongue posture, poor oral habits, and airway issues can affect the way kids sleep, breathe, grow, speak, and even how their jaws develop.

Sometimes the signs show up YEARS before crowded teeth ever do.

If your child has struggled with any of these, you’re not alone — and it may be worth looking deeper than “they’ll grow out of it.”

Did any of these show up in your childhood too? ⬇️

Follow to learn how to fix this for your child!

Your tongue should be strengthening your airway — not falling into it. 👅💨

This simple “K” sound exercise helps activate the back of the tongue, which plays a huge role in breathing and sleep.

Comment “AIRWAY” if this was helpful!

Most people think the tongue is just for eating and talking… but it actually helps support the airway too. 👅

When the tongue rests low, the mouth stays open, the airway narrows, and the body starts compensating. Over time this can impact sleep, facial development, focus, chewing, swallowing, and even the way the teeth come in.

The goal isn’t “perfect posture” overnight. It’s retraining the muscles and brain so nasal breathing and proper tongue posture become automatic.

If your mouth is open while you’re reading this… this is your sign 👀

Your Mallampati score can tell us a LOT about your airway 👅
A higher score (3 or 4) may be linked to sleep apnea!

Translation: what’s happening in your mouth affects your sleep more than you think. 👃💤

Crooked teeth aren’t the problem—they’re the symptom.

If the tongue isn’t resting up, lips stay open, and breathing happens through the mouth, the jaw never develops the way it should… and the teeth just follow the space they’re given.

Early myofunctional therapy addresses the root cause—so you’re not just straightening teeth, you’re guiding proper growth.

The earlier you start, the more you can change.

Baby teeth that look “perfectly straight” aren’t always a good sign. Those gaps are nature’s way of making room for bigger adult teeth. If there’s no space, it may be time to look at airway, tongue posture, chewing, and oral habits early. Follow for more myo tips.

Your tongue is supposed to shape your face, support your airway, and guide proper growth.
When it rests low, the palate narrows and the teeth follow.
When it rests up, the palate develops wider, the smile broadens, and the airway has more room to function the way it was designed to.

Function shapes form. 👅✨

Everone talks about “tongue up” 👅
But do you know about the suction?

Your tongue isn’t just sitting there. It’s shaping your face over time.
