This happened at Politics and Prose, one of my favorite independent bookstores in the nation. They happen to be in Washington D.C. and this author event was targeted by a small group of white supremecists.

Oren Teicher: An Appreciation 03/19/2019

During the 18 months that Emmett and I prepared to open Granada Books, Oren Teicher was instrumental in making sure we got registered for the Winter Institute, even though we were just days ahead of the first day in New Orleans. He introduced us to California indy bookstore owners and made us feel not only welcomed, but also included. This appreciation helps one understand the huge impact that he has had on the successful resurgence and resilience of independent bookstores across the nation. Hats off to you Oren Teicher, you have been a true American hero.
