Walking along the San Antonio River in 100 degree heat, I had no idea there were locks and dams! Fascinating watching a boat rise up. Reminded me of narrow boats in England. We rented one as a young family for a week traversing the waterways. I had to hand crank the ancient locks while hubby (back then) drove the long boat. The kids ran alongside the embankments. We’d tie up in villages for the night, sleeping in the narrow quarters, after pub dinners.
