Just wrapped up an insightful panel discussion on counter-fraud in an age of AI at Insurance Innovators Fraud & Claims, where we discussed some of the biggest challenges and advancements shaping fraud detection and prosecution. A few key takeaways:
Fraudsters are getting smarter - leveraging deepfakes, synthetic identities, and AI-driven tactics to obscure their tracks. But insurers are fighting back with new investigative techniques that trace the nearly traceless.
AI is reshaping the courtroom - but how do we ensure its evidence is admissible? Transparency, interpretability, and compliance are critical as automated fraud detection plays a bigger role in litigation.
The backlog remains a hurdle - with an increasing volume of complex fraud cases, we need faster detection, stronger collaboration, and strategic prosecution to close the gap.
Technology is a tool, not a solution. A proactive, data-driven strategy - backed by regulatory awareness and industry-wide cooperation - is how we stay ahead.

Stealing is Stealing
When someone "too injured to work" is still batting for their local baseball team, it's a clear sign that they may be trying to steal more than second base.
ClaimsX Ultra is like the umpire, always watching for inconsistencies between reported injuries and actual physical abilities, alerting adjusters to discrepancies found online, and capturing the evidence for negotiation or settlement.
Don't let fraudsters make their own calls.

Less Data, More Paradise!
All work and no play makes insurance a dull industry, so we broke out of the conference room and into the Santa Barbara sun for a day of private wine tasting 🍷 and golf ⛳ on the Gold Coast.

We’ve learned a lot from the hashtag morning sessions!
In his predictions for 2024, Max Drucker forecasted that AI will continue to make huge waves, however clear and obvious use cases will remain elusive.
Coverager® Co-Founder Shefi Ben-Hutta came hot out the gate with her honest assessment of the state of insurtech, imploring insurers to forge their own path to growth in the face of mounting consumer indifference towards their providers.
Accenture's Cindy De Armond shared crucial insights into the regulatory hurdles insurers can anticipate as GenAI takes center stage for insurance efficiency and profitability.
But the icing on the cake was keynote speaker Nate Silver who shared his 11 guidelines for expert data analysis, as well as his personal predictions for some of 2024’s biggest statistical events,
(A secret we’ll keep just for Data in Paradise attendees).
