Brooklyn Academy of Music celebrates Stevie Wonder with three-day concert series The concerts that are spread out over three nights will focus on Stevie Wonder's so-called "classic period" beginning in 1972 when he was just 21 years old.

What began as a far-flung notion over 20 years ago is now coming to full fruition...

"Stevie: A Life In The Key Of Songs" brings the prodigal son back to his Brooklyn roots to be in fellowship with his Black Rock Coalition family for three nights of an untouchable canon of music at his once decade long arts home at BAM...

The BRC Orchestra is a world class repertory company specializing in the apex catalog of the Black genius popular music canon…

It’s like saying the London Symphony is a “cover band.” Or the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra is a “cover band.” Or the Berlin Philharmonic is a “cover band.”

The Black popular music canon is the ore genesis to every popular American—and by extension, the globe—form of music there is.

We Black people have never been recognized for that. And it needs to change.
