We are pleased to announce that Christine Alnakoud has joined the Conference & Hospitality Services team as a Conference Manager! In this role, she will coordinate directly with new and existing clients that are bringing summer conferences to UCSB and staying in our residential communities.

Christine is a UCSB alum who previously served as the UCen Meetings & Events Manager. In her free time, Christine loves to travel and explore new places and restaurants, go to the beach, and read. She also enjoys all sorts of puzzles and craft projects.

We are pleased to announce that Phoebe Frisch-Gebhart is the new Assistant Director for Conference & Hospitality Services!

In this role, Phoebe will manage our summer conference front desks and residential facilities, as well as the Loma Pelona Center and West Conference Center.

Phoebe has been a Conference Manager with us for five years, and prior to her time at UCSB, she worked in conference and event planning at Cal Poly. Her extensive hospitality and customer service background also includes working in the catering industry for 10 years, managing a customer service staff at a casino in Vietnam, and leading group team building exercises and business retreats.

In her free time, Phoebe enjoys camping with her family, beach walks and tide pool exploration, and baking with her 4-year-old.

Conference & Hospitality Services at UC Santa Barbara is now hiring for a Conference Manager.

Brief Summary of Job Duties:
The Conference Manager serves as a key member of the Conference & Hospitality Services team in UCSB Housing, Dining, & Auxiliary Enterprises, sharing responsibilities for the overall program which includes planning, management and administration of all conferences and the provision of meeting management services. Ensures smooth-running, effective events, including successfully recognizing and resolving potential, and real, problems in a timely manner using tact, sensitivity, discretion, and political acumen.

The Unit provides meeting management and hospitality services to 20,000+ residents and commuters in 100+ programs. Using approximately 6,700 beds and in 12 facilities and 4 dining commons as well as campus meeting rooms, classrooms and lecture halls, the Unit assumes administrative responsibility of 100% of the residence hall beds and 50-70% of the single student apartments in the summer as well as the coordination of services from campus departments and facilities and numerous off-campus vendors.

Conference & Hospitality Services at UC Santa Barbara is now hiring for an Assistant Director.

The Assistant Director is as a key member of the Conference & Hospitality Services team in Housing, Dining, and Auxiliary Enterprises (HDAE), sharing responsibilities for the overall program which includes the planning, organizing, and directing of summer activities in residence halls and single student undergraduate apartments as well as the year-round activities in HDAE's public area spaces.

Summary of Job Details:
-Plan, develop, and administer facilities and hospitality operations which include the following: summer residence hall and apartment front desk services, safety and security procedures, guest room assignments, and management of the year-round Loma Pelona meeting space.
-Oversee the creation of systems as well as operational and fiscal efficiency for a robust summer conference program. Coordinate, audit, and control individual guest and group services such as check-in and check-out, key distribution, lost and found tracking, recreational equipment distribution, lock-outs, and general concierge services on a 24 hour a day/7 days per week schedule during the summer months.
-Supervise 1 career FTE, 7-12 academic year student Facility Services Operators, 8-9 summer student Managers, and indirectly supervise approximately 75 summer student front desk and facilities staff.
