Gov. Newsom’s revised 2026–27 budget proposal reinforces the importance of investing in the University of California. We’re encouraged to see the Assembly recognize higher education as a priority in its budget roadmap, but continued advocacy is critical
as budget negotiations continue.

Sustained investment in UC is essential to our shared goals of expanding enrollment and keeping HigherEd accessible for the next generation of Californians.

At yesterday’s Staff Service Milestone Awards Ceremony, UC Santa Barbara honored staff members for their years of dedicated service and outstanding contributions to our campus community.

The event also recognized ten recipients of the 2026 Staff Citation Award of Excellence, pictured with Chancellor Assanis and Garry MacPherson, Vice Chancellor of Administrative Services.

Special congratulations to Kelly Wood, recognized as one of CUCSA’s 2026 Kevin McCauley Outstanding Staff Awardees! Kelly is pictured with CUCSA Chair Greta Carl-Halle and UCSB CUCSA Delegates Kristen Ikeda-Yoza and Alex Moretto.

Join CUCSA for an upcoming Delegate Information Session on Friday, April 17, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The CUCSA Executive Board will provide an overview of the organization, followed by a panel of current and past delegates sharing their experiences and answering your questions.

📣 Staff Citation of Excellence Award Nomination Deadline Extended!
Nominations for the 2025–2026 Staff Citation of Excellence Awards have been extended until Friday, April 17, with eligibility for career SSAP and RPSP employees. Ten winners will receive $500 and a plaque at the May Service Milestone Event; nominations require a formal form and one endorsement letter submitted via the Staff Assembly website.
