Our Adopt-A-Home Campaign is seeking support and donations to help furnish thirty-one newly renovated studios for chronically homeless or formerly homeless individuals in our community.

This initiative helps furnish our new supportive housing property, ensuring residents move into spaces that feel dignified, comfortable, and truly their own.
your donation will ensure that the new tenants are provided with community room furnishings, basic living necessities, and personal items.

Your support and donations will ensure that the new tenants’ living and community spaces are comfortable, dignified, and welcoming. We invite you to help us welcome these individuals to their new homes! The grand opening will take place in June 2026!

🎒Thank you to all of the Tools for School event sponsors, community partners, volunteers and staff for their support at this year’s event! With their wonderful support, the Housing Authority of the City of Santa Barbara (HACSB) in partnership with 2nd Story Associates was able to provide free backpacks, school supplies, and books to over 400 youth in K-12 grades.

🏠 2nd Story Associates, envisions a community where all children have the tools necessary to succeed throughout the school year and beyond. At this year’s Tools for School, students were able chose from an assortment of backpacks filled with various school supplies and parents were able to receive information about important services and resources for youth and families.

Recently, the Housing Authority of the City of Santa Barbara honored seventeen graduates that completed the Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) Program, with a graduation ceremony and dinner for their families. Congratulations to all of the FSS Graduates!

The FSS Program is a voluntary five year program in which each participant designs goals and objectives to achieve living wage employment and gain economic self-sufficiency. The FSS Coordinator monitors each participant’s progress, to aid in their successful completion of each level on their journey to self-sufficiency.

In May 2022, 2nd Story Associates completed its purchase of Santa Barbara Green Mobile Home Park (SBGMHP). 2nd Story’s ownership of SBGMHP will allow the park to remain affordable to low-income renters for at least the next 90 years.

Last year, 17 families from our Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) program, who had received supportive services such as financial coaching and homeownership counseling, graduated. We are very proud of our 2022 FSS graduates who collectively increased their earned incomes by $339,301.

There is still time left to join our Vera Cruz Village Adopt-A-Room campaign! We hope the Santa Barbara community will support our efforts by donating to our “Adopt-A-Room” campaign. Your donation will ensure that the residents of Vera Cruz Village are provided with basic living necessities and personal items.
