Puakea Designs is stoked to be supporting paddlers alongside the Makapo Aquatics Project in Singapore next week! 🇸🇬🌊

Makapo will be showcasing their Cooperative Outrigger Paddling (CoOP) System—technology designed to give paddlers who are blind or low vision (BLV) the ability to paddle OC1s recreationally and compete at the highest levels.

So, how does it work?

⚙️ Steering Unit — Turns a modified tiller cap to control the canoe’s rudder.

🎮 Controller — Allows an operator to wirelessly help navigate the paddler, including positioning for bumps and wakes.

🎧 Communication System — Keeps the paddler and operator in two-way communication through a Bluetooth bone-conduction headset.

Pretty incredible technology making our sport more accessible and creating more opportunities to get people on the water.

So while you’re there, stop by the Makapo tent to check out the CoOP System and the new Puakea Designs Kahi paddles!

And head over to the Ozone tent to see the Puakea Sentire on display.

Singapore, we’ll see you soon! 🇸🇬🤙

Meet Spencer Allen 🌊 paddling has always been about more than racing.

Born and raised on Oʻahu, Spencer started paddling with Ka Lahui Kai at just 11 years old. With a family of paddlers the sport quickly became a huge part of his life. Along the way, it’s also given him some of his closest friends and a community he knows will be with him for life.

That connection to the ocean goes far beyond competition.

At just 17, Spencer was named the 2026 Duke Lifesaver Award recipient after his quick action helped save the life of a man whose vessel sank nearly a mile offshore near Hanauma Bay.

Family. Friendship. Community. Hard work. And a genuine respect for the ocean.

Get to know Puakea Designs Team Rider Spencer Allen and what keeps him coming back to the water. 🤙🏽

From training solo as a kid to racing alongside some of the best, Wyatt’s journey has always been driven by one thing: a love for paddling. 🌊

Growing up on Oahu, Wyatt started paddling at a young age and crossed the Kaiwi Channel in an OC1 at just 13. Since then, he’s earned wins and podium finishes around the world 🌊✈️ but what means the most to him is the community he’s found along the way.

The paddling community has given him friendships, mentors, and coaches he’ll carry with him for life.

What’s next up for Wyatt: Gorge Downwind Championships this weekend. Good luck, Wyatt! 💪
