I hired my buddy to install and the charger randomly stopped working!🪫🪫🪫

A sad story our team hears too often. Not only was the improper wire size installed, this poorly performed install had a junction box where the electrician spliced the wires with wire nuts…THIS IS WHY WE NEVER SPLICE!!!
As you can see, the wires completely melted and almost started an attic fire 😳🔥

The following photo shows our professional correction with a complete run of #6 wire and the proper grounding by use of a chair lug. Some may say the chair lug is overkill…but your safety is worth more than anything! 💪🏻🔋

The NEMA 14-50 has been the standard format for almost all electric vehicle plug in style adapters.
We recently were called on a job where another electrician installed a Leviton NEMA 14-50 outlet. After only a few months use, it completely melted along with significant damage to the surrounding area.
Fortunately, it was caught in time for the fire department to arrive and extinguish the incident. The plug on the left is a new common Leviton brand. The one on the right is the Hubbell brand. The Hubbell is the ONLY NEMA 14-50 outlet on the market today that we have discovered will withstand the rigors of EV charging.

What you see here is a common install we get excited to perform! With clean and clear walls, our clients home already had the pre-ran conduit from the main electrical panel to the 4S box in the wall for us to install the Hubbell NEMA 14-50 outlet for their future all electric BMW, and the Tesla Wall Connector was installed directly behind the main electrical panel, onto a wooden stud of course, for their new Tesla arriving later that day.
