Wyoming is filled with every color you can imagine. The horses there seem to have some kind of magical genetics that throw together reds and blondes and all kinds of unique color combinations. When I stumbled upon this band these two captured my heart. I have no doubt this foal will grow up as beautiful as her mother. My hope is she gets to grow up on this beautiful land, her future is still very much in doubt right now. Salt Wells is a magical place and the thought of losing such a place weighs heavy on my heart. There are millions of acres yet we are allowing one group to control it all.

Goliath
The simplicity of a photograph, no music no video just a photograph call tell a story without words. The ability to study and discover all the nuances of a photograph has been lost to an algorithm that constantly rewards artists for using the platforms newest and greatest updates. Today I say no to all that and it’s because of this moment with Goliath.
A few weeks ago I was out with a friend on the range and we could see a white dot off in the distance, I knew right away it was Goliath and elder horse who I have truly learned to love as we have spent many hours together this past Spring.
My friend and I got our chairs out and waited patiently for Goliath to come into water. It took an hour and a half for him to make it to water, he moved with careful steps and stopped to graze frequently. During that time my friend and I had a wonderful conversation and time slowed down and the world felt softer and as I watched Goliath I had a moment of complete presence, the world just fell away. Goliath moves much slower these days but in he moves with determination and also patience. Once he finally got to the water hole the light was starting to fade and my favorite kind of light bathed the desert floor. He enjoyed every moment there and when he was done he slowly turned away and walked back into the vast land that he has called home his entire life. There was such a beautiful simplicity to it all. My friend and I both agreed it was so worth the wait and the best moment of the entire day.
Goliath reminds me to slow down, be present and find joy in simplicity, that’s what time in the wild does, it reminds us of who we really are.

“You can find me where the wild things grow.”
There is no shortage of beautiful new foals in Wyoming. I always love seeing all the new additions but it’s bittersweet, their fate is still yet to be decided. I watch them play and run among the flowers and I look at all that land and can’t imagine it without them. I know there are lots of good people fighting for their right to remain on the land that was given to them, that gives me hope. I also know that greed and corruption is rampant in our society right now and our wild places and spaces are in constant jeopardy of being erased.
“ When we save our wild places, we will ultimately save ourselves.” -Steve Irwin
So beautifully done, giving our lost horses a voice.

This beautiful curly mare really caught my attention! I am always drawn to sorrels, I am a redhead, so I spent my childhood hating my fiery hair, and as an adult I have learned to embrace it.
I watched this beautiful mare and felt an instant connection. She had a definite fiery attitude and yet at other times a calmness. Her stunning coat glistened in the afternoon sun.
She was truly wild and we both kept our distance.
Thursday when out on the Onaqui range I witnessed one of the worst interactions between people and wild horses I have seen in my seven years out there. The water hole was crowded with photographers and visitors as the horses tried to drink from a very crowded trough. The water was slow in filling, so tensions among horses were high. I walked into the scene and found a group ten feet away and two gentleman deciding it was a good idea to try and touch the horses. My fiery red hair took over and I began trying to move people back as I could see the potential for a disaster. Most people listened and moved but some did not , causing greater friction between horses and humans. After everyone had moved and several near misses were prevented I began to ask myself this question, Do people really want wild horse to be wild? So many of us work so hard to protect their wildness, and so many do so much to undermine it, all for a photo or because they simply think their actions won’t impact them. I have heard all the excuses and rationalizations.
So during this holiday weekend if you are visiting any of the wild horse ranges I ask you to respect their wildness, maintain safe distances and think of the horses first, put their culture and welfare first. If they move towards you it’s your responsibility to move. These horses belong to all Americans and they deserve our respect and protection, let’s keep wild horses wild!

Wonderful news! Let’s keep the momentum going! A huge thank you to all those working so hard behind the scenes!
BREAKING NEWS. Today, we have a major announcement for America’s horses.
The House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee has officially advanced legislation we have been working on behind the scenes, including language to prohibit the transport of equines destined for slaughter.
If ultimately enacted into law, this would represent one of the most significant federal actions ever taken toward ending the pipeline that sends tens of thousands of American horses across U.S. borders every year.
This is why we created The Lost Horses campaign. This is why we have lobbied tirelessly on Capitol Hill, and worked alongside our partners to shine a national spotlight on this issue through film, advocacy, and grassroots action.
But this moment only exists because YOU helped make it impossible to ignore - through your calls, messages, shares, and collective voices.
For the first time in decades, an undeniable groundswell is building in Congress.
We are deeply grateful to the members of the House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee for taking this extraordinary step forward.
We are also profoundly thankful to the organizations and leaders who have stood with us in this fight, including ASPCA, AWI, 1/ST, Jockey Club, Equus Foundation, and so many others.
But this fight is not over.
The language must now hold as the Surface Transportation bill advances to the House floor, which means we need you to raise your voices louder than ever before.
Please do not wait. This moment is happening right now.
Go to losthorses.org/take-action and send a letter to Congress - then double it up with a call to the Capitol Switchboard at (202) 224-3121 and ask to be connected to your Representative.
You can say:
"Hello, my name is [NAME], and I’m calling from [CITY, STATE] to ask Representative [NAME] to help ensure the provision protecting horses from slaughter remains in the transportation bill as it advances to the House floor, and to support passage of the SAFE Act."
Thank you for being part of this journey.
Now… let’s finish this. For each and everyone one of the Lost Horses.

Everytime I go to Wyoming I find horses I have never seen before. This young blue eyed beauty came walking through the high sage brush and took my breath away!
“ I come into the peace of wild things…..
For a time I rest in the grace of the world,
And am free.” -Wendell Berry
He came over the ridge, his blue eyes glistening in the sun, he disappeared into the sage brush sea as quickly as he appeared. He looked like a modern day unicorn.
They say there is no magic in the world anymore, I say you just have to look for it, it’s all around us!

Bonfire.
No better way to start the beginning of the Lunar New Year than with this stunning c**t! Bonfire will be two in March and carries the power and fire of Charger. His name fits him perfectly as he has been a spit fire from day one! He is full of energy and s***k and on this day he ran circles around his band, his red mane blowing in the high desert wind.
Bonfire perfectly embodies the fire horse, independence, courage, passion and boldness!
