With the 4th of July right around the corner, we wanted to remind everyone of the fireworks restrictions we have in place. Because of the drought conditions we're under, we encourage all residents to skip personal fireworks this year and enjoy one of the many professional fireworks shows that are available (most notably our fireworks show at City Hall on the 4th). But if you are going to do your own fireworks, please familiarize yourself with the permitted times and locations for discharging fireworks.

Happy Juneteenth from Sandy City!
What is Juneteenth? It's a holiday that commemorates the end of slavery in the United States. It is observed annually on June 19, marking the date in 1865 when Union troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, to announce that the more than 250,000 enslaved Black people in the state were free.
(Due to state law, we observed the holiday with office closures on Monday, so we are open today if you need to do any business at City Hall.)
In our current dry, hot summer conditions, the risk of a fire breaking out is extremely high. All it takes is one spark to ignite a field of dry grass. That's why one of the most important things you can do to help protect your home from fire danger is to clear your property of all dry vegetation before it becomes a fire hazard. Please make a precautionary check of your own property and carefully trim areas that could be dangerous.
If you spot an empty lot or open space that needs the attention of our city code enforcement team, please contact us directly at 801-568-7254 or download the Sandy CityServe app (link in comments below) and submit a report.
Spock's Skate Camp will be returning to the Lone Peak Skate Park for a 6-week skateboarding camp from July 10 through August 14. Two hours per week of expert instruction for skateboarders of all skill levels.
