First week of soccer in the books! Lots of fun plays and memories already forming for the kids. Looking forward to a fun fall season!

We'll be at Bicentennial Park in Sandy this evening, training new referees. If you've ever had a game where a referee wasn't available, this is a great way to get involved and help your community. Kids as young as 12 are welcome to come get trained and certified as well. Great way for kids to learn about soccer and possible ways to make some money with a hobby they enjoy.

Parents! As we begin the fall season, please remember we are here to have fun! Be kind to all kids, be kind to referees, be kind to other parents and coaches. We're all here to make sure the kids have a great time and create new memories as well as make new friends. Your kids will look at you and your example, please be mindful of how they view you and that your actions speak louder than words.

John O'Sullivan book "Changing the Game" outlines how parents can keep everything in perspective:
Action Steps for Keeping Perspective
1. Remember why kids play sports…to HAVE FUN!
2. Develop a partnership with your child’s coach, teachers,
and other adult mentors so you are on the same page
regarding your child’s development. Know your role.
3. Keep a proper balance between sports, school, spiritual
growth, and family.
4. Recognize the achievements of all your kids and not just
your athletes.
5. Block time for all your kids and not just your athletes.
6. Block time for yourself, make sure you exercise and eat
well, and model perspective for your children.
7. Live so that your children know they are the most
important thing in your life, but they are not the only
important thing.
8. We don’t get any do-overs, so live your life as if this is all
there is.
