❤️ Help Us Keep Community Training Affordable

At OneLife, our goal has always been simple: provide high-quality CPR, First Aid, and EMS education at prices our community can afford. Every class we teach helps prepare someone to save a life.

If you've ever asked how you can support our mission, here are a few ways:

🩺 Donate training supplies. Donations of equipment and classroom materials make the biggest impact and help us keep class costs low. Check out our Amazon Wish List to see what we currently need!

🚑 Support the future of our EMT program. We are also working toward purchasing an ambulance for our EMT school. Having a dedicated training ambulance will give our students realistic, hands-on experience before they ever respond to a real emergency.

If you'd like to help fund this project or make a donation of equipment, supplies, or other resources, we'd love to visit with you. Every contribution, big or small, directly supports the education of future first responders and helps us continue offering affordable training to our community.

Thank you for believing in our mission and helping us build stronger, safer communities—one student at a time. ❤️

There is a post that keeps circulating, and because I teach CPR and First Aid, I want to clear something up.

The “cough CPR” advice in this post is not recommended for the general public and is not what we teach in CPR classes.

If you think you are having a heart attack, do not sit there repeatedly coughing and hoping you can “restart” your heart. A heart attack and cardiac arrest are not the same thing, and coughing is not a substitute for emergency treatment.

What you should do:

1. Call 911 immediately.
2. Stop what you are doing and rest.
3. Do not drive yourself to the hospital if EMS is available.
4. Follow the dispatcher’s instructions.
5. Aspirin may be appropriate for some adults with suspected heart attack symptoms, but only if they are not allergic, have not been told to avoid it, and there is no reason it would be unsafe.

Also, women can absolutely experience chest pain during a heart attack. Chest pain or discomfort is still the most common symptom in women. Women may also experience shortness of breath, nausea, back or jaw pain, unusual fatigue, dizziness, or sweating.

Profuse sweating can be a warning sign of a heart attack, but the claim that CPR courses teach an “esophageal spasm” as a specific warning sign is not accurate.

There are extremely limited medical situations where coughing may be used under direct medical supervision for certain abnormal heart rhythms. That is not the same thing as “cough CPR” for someone having a heart attack alone at home or while driving.

Please be careful with viral medical posts. They often contain just enough correct information to make the dangerous parts sound believable.

If you think you are having a heart attack, call 911. Do not waste precious time trying an internet trick.

🚨 POST OF THE DAY: Commotio Cordis 🚨

A hit to the chest may not always look serious… but in rare cases, it can cause a sudden cardiac arrest known as Commotio Cordis.

This happens when a blunt impact to the chest strikes at a very specific moment in the heart’s electrical cycle, disrupting its rhythm and causing the heart to stop.

🏈 Common in sports like:
⚾ Baseball / Softball
🏒 Hockey
🥍 Lacrosse
🏈 Football

⚠️ Warning signs:
• Sudden collapse after a chest impact
• Unresponsive
• Not breathing normally

⏱️ Seconds matter. Immediate action can save a life.

✅ Call 911
✅ Start CPR immediately
✅ Use an AED as soon as possible

Early CPR and rapid defibrillation dramatically improve survival.

Knowledge saves lives. Training saves lives. Action saves lives. ❤️

Have you taken a CPR class recently?

❤️ CPR FACT MONDAY ❤️

Did you know?

When CPR is started immediately, it can significantly improve a person’s chance of survival during cardiac arrest.

The first few minutes matter.

If someone collapses:
✅ Call 911
✅ Start CPR
✅ Send someone for an AED

You do not have to be a healthcare professional to save a life.

Have you taken a CPR class in the last two years?

⚡ AED MYTH BUSTER ⚡

Myth: “I could hurt someone if I use an AED.”

Fact: AEDs are designed to analyze the heart rhythm and will only advise a shock when needed.

They provide step-by-step voice instructions and are made for everyday people to use during an emergency.

Knowing where the nearest AED is located could save a life.

Do you know where the closest AED is in your workplace?

You never expect an emergency until it happens.

Would you know what to do if a loved one stopped breathing, started choking, or suffered a serious injury?

Our CPR and First Aid classes provide hands-on training designed to help you respond with confidence when every second matters.

Classes available for individuals, businesses, schools, churches, and community groups.
