School starts back this week!

Back to school brings more traffic, both vehicles and pedestrians. We want to remind drivers of the rules of the road.

School buses – GA state law 40-6-163 covers when a driver can overtake a school bus. If a school bus has activated its lights and the stop sign/arm is out, vehicles approaching the bus MUST stop. The vehicles coming in the opposite direction must stop, unless a median of some sort is present. Vehicles should not proceed to driving until the bus has started motion or the visual signs are no longer activated.

The best thing to do is slow down whenever you see a group of kids and a bus.
