The Cape Cod Hydrangea Festival starts in 2 weeks! We have 8 gorgeous Members’ gardens open to the public plus our Display Garden at Heritage with over 700 hydrangea plants! A tale of two Macrophylla big leaf hydrangeas. The one on the left is healthy and shaded by a large oak. The one on the right is in full afternoon sun, wilting, and looking very unhappy. Both are on the same drip irrigation. The problem? Too much sun. This plant should be moved to where it will get morning sun and afternoon shade or dappled shade.

Cape Cod Hydrangea Society members are hard at work getting the hydrangeas ready in our Display Garden at Heritage for the start of the Cape Cod Hydrangea Festival on July 10! Look at the buds on those plants! It’s going to be a good one!

The May Member Meeting is coming up this Saturday, May 30 at 9:30 a.m. at Heritage Museums & Gardens in Sandwich, MA. Come and discover a century of rhododendron history at Heritage Museums & Gardens. Join Heritage’s Curator of Rhododendrons, Lillian Borbas, for an exploration of the legacy of renowned rhododendron hybridizer Charles O. Dexter, who once lived and worked on the grounds that now make up Heritage. Bring a friend who is interested in learning about The Cape Cod Hydrangea Society!
