Dustin Nejedly has roamed area basketball sidelines for years. Next season, he'll be calling the shots at St. Mary Central Catholic.

Nejedly, a 1999 SMCC graduate, will be the Panthers' next head boys basketball coach.

Many local student-athletes had great performances on Saturday during the state track meet:

• Clyde's Dekin Crockett ran one of his best races of the season, taking third place

• Perkins' Joel Smelcer entered the 1600 final with the 17th-best time, but shot up to ninth in the race on the track.

• Perkins' Paul Keys finished tied for 12th. He cleared 6 feet on his first attempt.

The Sandusky County Chamber of Commerce congratulated Margaret Weisz on her retirement after 28 years serving as executive director of the Liberty Center of Sandusky County.
